Saturday, December 07, 2024 – Windy, but flyable day. Some pilots test their skills…

The previous week…

As we had mentioned in our previous story (from December 01), the weather had changed. Now cold and strong winds were coming to all island so, we take some breaks in our activities. During the week of December 02 to 06, we dedicated ourselves to give maintaining to the equipment. Also, on two occasions we went up to the Villa Pesquera Isabela, just to confirm that the winds were strong as expected. In one of these days we met with the friend and pilot José “Cheo” Román. And on another occasion we visited Mar Chiquita Beach in Manatí, evaluating the area to see if we could make there any activities in the future…

Strong wind conditions, but flyable…?

Today in the morning, some pilots met in Villa Pesquera Isabela to see the possibility of flights. Along with Luis Ruiz, were present Sammy Badillo, Mario Muñiz, David Silva with his cousin Emmy, Ricardo González with his wife Ermelinda and Pablo Cruz with his wife Millie. A good quorum, considering the challenge weather.

Luis Ruiz and Emmy’s Demo Flight…

On this occasion, David Silva had not arrived to fly, but rather he had taken his cousin Emmy to live the flight experience in a Tandem fly with Luis Ruiz. She will return to Florida, USA where resides at next day. So, the fly should be today… but the wind intensity of over 20 mph+ posed a challenge to the flight. Luis Ruiz took all the pertinent safety measures and with the assistance of pilots Sammy and Mario the flight was carried out and at the end, Emmy was very happy with her experience. Great!!!

A challenge Take Off…
Emmy, very happy after her fly!!!

Pilots showing their skills…

Once Emmy‘s flight was over, several pilots decided to go flying. The wind, despite being strong, was constant at 20 mph. In those conditions, Luis Ruiz went out to fly with his Sky Zorro 22 meter paraglider, Sammy Badillo with his Flow RPM 18 meters, Ricardo González with his BGD Luna 2 20 meters and Mario Muñiz with his BGD Luna 2 18 meters. On this occasion, Pablo was not ready to fly. The pilots demonstrated great skills and safe flights in those conditions, although more than one turbulence story was mentioned.

Given that the intensity of the winds would not decrease, we left early to our homes… God Bless!!!
