Saturday, January 21, 2023 – Dorado Time, (but was Windy again…)

We visited the town of Dorado. Had been months since our last visit to the place. Wind conditions remain strong for the entire island, but it was flyable for the more expert pilots. So, several members of Team Kamikazes arrived in the early hours of the morning.

Present at the activities were Sammy Badillo, Luis Ruiz, Edgardo Rivera and his wife Wilnelia, Omar Colon, John Mushnick and a possible student Luis Sagandriel.

Our first stop in the morning was at “El Único” Beach. The place held our past meetings in the area. But this time the that beach was full of rubble, which made it difficult to take off and land in the area.

On previous visits, Edgardo had found an area with better space to fly and, with natural shadows from the trees to be able to have a picnic or BBQ while we flew during the day. The access is an unpaved road on the side of the “El Caracol” business. Thus, all the mentioned pilots were arriving at the place. This included a surprise visitor… Darwin Hernández, who had just arrived on the island, and Edgardo picked him up at the San Juan Airport and would be with us for a few hours before returning to the US for work reasons 😲.

Darwin arrival…

The wind was hovering around 20 mph, with some gusts in excess of 23 mph+. Edgardo, Luis and Sammy would go out early to fly along the beach coast with their fast paragliders, Flow RPM, BGD Luna2 and Apco F3 respectively. They were joined by Darwin using Luis’s Paramotor ParaJet Maverick alongside his 18m BGD Luna2.

While this was happening, John Mushnick was practicing kiting with his 24-meter paraglider, but decided not to fly, and Omar Colon, was chef, working a BBQ full of Hamburgers and Hot Dogs for everyone present.

The wind never dropped, but we managed to fly and had a great time with good friends. God Bless 🙏!
