Saturday, April 02, 2022 – A Cross from Isabela and Darwin Surprise…

This time we visited Parque del Norte in Hatillo and the weather looked good in the morning hours.

The activity began in the morning with the cross fly of the pilots David Garber, Darwin Hernández, Edgardo Rivera, Ben Doyle and Omar Colon. They take off from Isabela in the morning hours, and despite having adverse weather they managed to reach Hatillo.

Everyone commented on the challenges they had as the wind was very unstable at all levels especially on the Cliff in Quebradillas where there are very few alternate landings. The first to arrive was Ben with his fast 18 meter Flow RPM paraglider. David was at the back of the Cross ensuring that everyone arrived safely.

In Hatillo, the rest of the pilots and the Kamikazes family were waiting for them…

David Garber’s experience doing Acro…

Once the Cross pilots arrived from Isabela, David Garber kept flying and took advantage of an improvement in the weather to do Acro Stunts on his Apco NRG PRO II paraglider. It turns out that on this occasion and for the first time in its history, the paraglider suffered damage due to turns that require immediate attention. It should be noted that David always carries an emergency parachute when making these turns. The glider will be sending to a professional Repair Shop in order to repair the paraglider.

More flight activities…

In Hatillo, the wind increased in intensity minute by minute, and only the more experienced pilots Take Off to fly in those conditions (20 mph+). This was the case for Ben, Omar, Darwin, Edgardo, Ian, David and Luis. While Mario, Ricardo and Roberto Negron remained practicing inflated with the paraglider on Ground. In the meantime, Cheo Roman took it easy and stay sharing and having a good time on Ground.

Despite having that strong headwind, At one point, Omar, Darwin, Ben and Edgardo flew “cross” all the way to the Arecibo Lighthouse. Once there, Ben decided to land taking some turbulence from the Lighthouse while flying low. The other pilots turned around. Darwin displayed his phone with a speed of flight app indicating that he had flown back at over 65 mph!!!😲.

About the people that arrived to Live the Experience in the Paramotor, Angel, Jan, Bryan and Pewee, all of them had a great time flying the Coast of Hatillo and Camuy. Ian and David were in charge of the flights.

Darwin’s surprise birthday…

Last week at Alberto’s house, we had celebrated a few birthdays and Darwin’s was not one of them, because he was out of Puerto Rico doing professional work. But we did not forget…, and the Kamikaze girls took on the task of preparing a cake and even a piñata.

Darwin Birthday Part I

At one point, Darwin had to break the piñata. And what a surprise we had with that War, which lasted more than 3 minutes. A whole round of boxing 🤪!!!.

Back to Isabela?

Remember the morning flight? Well, in the case of Omar, Darwin and Edgardo (in solidarity), they had yet to finish the day of flights by flying back to Isabela, where the vehicles had been left. They need to fly there, or find another method of transportation 🤔.

It turns out that a huge cloud with winds and rain covered the entire north coast of the island, making the return flight impossible. They waited a bit but conditions did not improve. Darwin actually managed to take off, but found the air to be very unstable and immediately land again.

No Chance of Flying. Everybody and Equipment at Edgardo’s Car!!!

They ended up eating at the “Fogón de la Abuela” in Camuy before returning in vehicles to Isabela. As always we thank God for all these opportunities and experiences that He allows us to have. Blessings!!!🙏
