We are taking advantage of excellent weather conditions to close the season of flights of 2023. And today was a special day… besides great flying from all pilots, Edgardo Rivera, goes for a marathon of flights…
The day of flights began early in the morning in the Lajas Valley, continued in the afternoon with flights over the Hatillo Mask Festival, and ended at sunset with flights at “El Único” Beach in Dorado. But let’s go for part…
Lajas Valley, morning flight…
Just at sunrise, a group of pilots met on the land of José Sánchez Sr. in the Lajas Valley. The idea was to take advantage of the morning to go flying in the mist-covered valley.
Present were the pilots Edgardo Rivera, Luis Ruiz, Jomar Crespo, Dan Bushman and José Sánchez Sr.
As expected, there was no wind at all, the flights had to be earned by pure run in the takeoff. The only one who was comfortable in that line was José, who was going to fly on his Trike Fly Products Vertigo.
Everyone lined up on the runway, and the first to leave was Dan Bushman, with a perfect takeoff in zero wind. A little later José Sánchez Sr. Take Off on his Trike on his first attempt. Then it was Jomar‘s turn, who never before had been trying a Cero wind condition Front Take Off. Later, after two attempts, we fixed some technical details with him, and he went flying.
A little later Edgardo and Luis were also taking off. Edgardo came out without problems using this time a BGD Wasp 29-meter, but Luis, in his takeoff race, injured his knee, but anyway he took off… Eventually, the knee got worse on the landing where Luis had to force it to stop the momentum of the race. He will have to rest or at least take it easy for some days due to that injury…
Everyone enjoyed a great flight through the entire Lajas Valley, but this was just the starting for Edgardo…
Is good to note that the pilot Wilkins Torres, from Villalba, could not attend the activities due to personal previous compromises. But he kept practicing in Villalba his Take Off by a method of Front Launch (at cero wind conditions).
Hatillo, Mask Festival…
Edgardo Rivera continued his marathon of flights. After the flight in Lajas, he moved in his car to the town of Camuy, a car drive of some 2 hours. He eventually Take Off from the town of Camuy, and flew to the area of the famous Hatillo mask festival, and the surrounding areas. Here is a video of his adventure in the area…
Dorado, “El Único” Beach, closing a long day of flights…
Edgardo Rivera will keep flying… After he finished the flights in Hatillo, he moved by car to Dorado. Other 2 hour car drive!!!. When he arrived in the afternoon, some pilots were expecting him. Pilots Gabriel Martínez, Pedro Agostini, Enrique González, Ray Malave and the assistant Carlos Robles.
And all of them were flying all over that coast. Here we leave some videos that best describe what they experienced flying at sunset in Dorado.
Surely a big marathon of flights and car driving from Edgardo, that after that, surely arrived by night to his home in Aguas Buenas…
