With the arrival of international pilots Ai Humlae and his wife Sue (Washington DC), and Raju Raymond and his wife Marina (London, United Kingdom), we had a whole week full of flying adventures. In Raju‘s case, he also came to polish his skills as a pilot in different climates and situations. We were active basically every day of the week…
Monday, May 05, 2025 – Isabela…
Relatively good weather, although somewhat windy. This was very well used by Luis Ruiz for Raju‘s training in the reverse control mode. The pilot and friend, Berto García, stop to say Hi, and was present in part of the training.
At one point, we decided to gets Raju ready to fly on the sporty paraglider, 18-meter Sky Z Blade. He managed to Take Off, but then a mid-flight safety situation arose, and Raju need to land immediately. He shows good skills in approach the landing with this fast paraglider. For the next days we are going to concentrate the training to create a better base of skills in paragliding control on ground.
In the afternoon, with adverse weather conditions for practicing, Luis took Raju and Marina to the towns of Aguada and Rincón for some internal tourism.
Tuesday, May 06, 2025 – Isabela…
We spent the entire day training in Villa Pesquera, Isabela. Raju was practicing paraglider ground control by frontal and reverse method. Later in the day, Raju goes for a fly that last more than an hour along the coast. This included an aerial visit to the beautiful Guajataca area in Quebradillas.
In the meantime, Luis Ruiz also went out flying, this time testing a vintage paraglider that has in good condition. The paraglider is from the extinct line of Paramania, one of the leading companies in the industry in the early 2000s. The model, a Revolution, 26 – meters. Here we show a video of the takeoff. And as expected, the reactions and agility of the paraglider are very unique. Definitively, it was constructed ahead of his era. Paramania was a very special manufacturer at their time. Will they come back? Who knows…
Wednesday, May 07, 2025 – Isabela…
We returned to training again in Isabela. Raju is already demonstrating great progress in his paraglider control skills.
Raju goes flying with his new paraglider, an agile and sporty 26 meter Flow Cosmos Power paraglider. We resume activities by 1 PM. Tomorrow we will change the place for flying and we will have to get up early in the morning.
Thursday, May 08, 2025 – Anasco…
Right at dawn, 6 AM, we were at Berto Garcia’s flying grounds in the Anasco Valley. This time also present was Ai Humlae together with Berto, Luis Ruiz and Raju.
Just upon Luis arrival, Berto was already flying and juggling in front of Luis as he drove through the entrance of the farm.
A little while later, Ai, and later Raju, managed to Take Off… Raju had some failed attempt, but this is part of his learning experiences.
Both, Raju and Ai Humlae spent over an hour flying before landing. This despite the weather being somewhat turbulent.
In the afternoon, Luis Ruiz and Raju went back up to Isabela. Both made flights of more than an hour along the beach coast. Raju is showing more progress in his skills, and that is the idea.
Friday, May 09, 2025…
This was the day off from training. Raju was doing domestic tourism with his wife.
Saturday, May 10, 2025 – Isabela…
Raju‘s last day of training on this trip. The plans were until Sunday, but Sunday’s holiday, together with adverse weather arriving on the island, indicated that today was the final day… Along with Raju and Luis, present were the Kamikazes pilots, Sammy Badillo, Miguel Orona and Abdiel Galarza. The Pilot and friend Eric Román also stopped late in the day to say Hi.
Miguel, Sammy, Raju and Luis managed to make flights all over the coast and in pleasant weather. But by the time Abdiel arrived, the winds were already approaching 20 mph+, and it wouldn’t go below that for the rest of the weekend.
Final conclusion…
Raju‘s progress this week of training was very positive. His control of the various paragliders practiced on ground was excellent, and his skills as a pilot were way better than when he arrived. He had the opportunity to fly at different weather with different equipment. And he also had a great time with his wife at different locations in the island.
In the case of Ai Humlae, he also had a great time, and a lot of internal tourism along the island. He will soon will be preparing a video of all his adventure on the island. Stay tuned..
And we, at Team Kamikazes Paramotor Puerto Rico are very happy to show our beautiful island to our new friends, and help them to achieve their dreams as a Paramotor Pilots. God Bless!!!
