A fairly intense week with the family of Team Kamikazes Paramotor Puerto Rico pilots and their students. There was activity practically every day taking advantage of the good weather conditions. Let’s go in detail…
Monday August 4, 2025 – Training day…
Fio Lopez was training from very early in the morning, is surprising his will to get better in the sport.
Some minutes later, Luis Ruiz met with the students, Shirley Hernández, Rebecca Webb and Luis “Apel” in Isabela. Today was training day, and they had arrived ready to practice. In the case of Shirley and Rebecca, they are getting closer and closer to their first “solo” flight in the Paramotor. Apel, for his part, is learning to control the paraglider in practice. At the beginning of the internship, the students were not at their best. But after a few minutes they began to master the paragliding.
Luis Ruiz took the opportunity to take each of them to fly with him, and each of the students was going to have the opportunity to take the controls in the air. This motivated the students a lot.
Later in the afternoon, Luis Ruiz began training with Mr. Mateo Richie, who will leave to the States for some days before resuming training. Stay Tuned…
Wednesday, August 6, 2025 – Training Day + Pilots Visit…
This time the students, Rebecca and Apel, arrived together with Luis Ruiz, and the pilots Danis Rodríguez, Darwin Hernández, Randy Kester and Sam Travis also arrived to join the Flying adventures.
Luis Ruiz dedicated time to Rebecca and Apel‘s training, while the rest of the pilots went out to fly.
It was nice to see Danis Rodríguez. He lives in New York, USA, and visits us every 3 or 4 months to fly with us. This time he was testing a 26 meter size paraglider by Luis Ruiz, a vintage and well care Paramania Revolution. After this, he made an Introduction Flight to the sport for his friend Diana.
The adventures of a “Cross” flights…
Randy Kester was also present and as is his custom he goes for a “Cross” fly. Later, at one point in the morning the pilots Darwin, Edgardo, Chino and Sam went for a Cross fly in the direction of Camuy/Hatillo. Eventually they would land in the beach at the front of Penon Brusi in Camuy. Once there, they would stay for a while having lunch and snacks.
The situation became complicated once they arrived in Camuy since at that time the winds on the coast were at an estimated 22 to 25 mph+. More than one of the pilots had problems landing, but they finally managed to do so.
Afterwards they went to have their refreshments, and the new challenge was to leave back to Isabela, this time with winds just as strong, and worse. Cumulus clouds threatened flights along the entire route. The student José Luis Hernández, a local from Camuy, arrive to share with them and take some videos. Eventually, all the pilots returned safely.
Thursday, August 7, 2025 – Training in Isabela with Strong Wind…
Luis Ruiz met as usual on Thursday with the already pilot Scott Sansone and the student Luis “Apel” in Villa Pesquera, Isabela. This time we had more wind than expected. 15 mph early in the day rising to 22 mph late in the afternoon.
Scott went out to fly early and demonstrated his great skills, while Apel practiced a little with the paraglider, but the strong winds did not allow him to practice comfortably.
For his part, Luis was in charge of carrying out two Introduction to the sport flights to Ricardo and Barbara, natives of Fajardo. Both flights were completed and both were very happy with their adventures. We leave here some videos of the occasion.
Friday, August 8, 2025 – Some flights to get ready for the weekend…
Luis Ruiz was in the Posa de Teodoro, Isabela, where the “Zumba la Maruk2” would be held at the end of the month. He was testing and made some adjustments to his Skymax Paramotor and, incidentally, he took the opportunity to practice the precision landing. This for the event that will be held at the end of the month.
Edgardo Rivera was also flying in the Humacao area with some pilots. All this prior to the weekend’s flight activities…
