During this week we welcomed several international paramotor pilots who arrived ready to live their flying adventures with Team Kamikazes. And we made sure that they enjoy every moment—not just flying, but exploring and getting to know our beautiful island of Puerto Rico even better. Let’s go day by day…

We kicked off the week with the arrival of pilot Chris Brennan, who lives in Buffalo, NY. Chris is an experienced pilot who enjoys attending paramotor events all over the USA, and now it was Puerto Rico’s turn.
For his first flights, Luis Ruiz provided him with an Air Conception Nitro 200 paramotor with a left-hand throttle, which Chris prefers. Flying with him were Luis and Nixon Porrata.
Later in the afternoon pilot Jim Brown arrived as well—he recently moved to Puerto Rico, and we’ll soon share more about his plans on the island.

We returned to Villa Pesquera, Isabela. The weather was good, although windier as the afternoon approached. The surf was high, so extra caution was needed.
This time, in addition to Chris Brennan, our friend Eliseo Nogueras Jr., who resides in Rhode Island, joined us. Along with Luis Ruiz and Nixon Porrata, they flew routes that included an aerial visit to Jobos Beach.

Back in Isabela, and this time we had a full house of pilots and friends. Winds came in light during the morning—around 5 mph—and later shifted to the north. In other words, perfect conditions for flying all day.
Chris Brennan was back in the air enjoying himself, now accompanied by Miguel Orona, Nixon, Luis, and Eliseo. All of them flew out to visit the Guajataca Tunnel.
Luis Ruiz also began the official training of Alexei Makarenko, starting with theory and some inflation practice using the front launch method. Meanwhile, Luis’s son Noah Enrique practiced paraglider inflation as well.
Another international pilot, Karen Nunez from the Dominican Republic—who normally practices free flight—also arrived on the island. With the soft winds, she took advantage of the opportunity to go on a tandem flight with Luis Ruiz, taking control for much of the flight. Her cousin Sara also got to fly. We’ve included some videos of their experience.

After a well-deserved rest yesterday afternoon, we started early at La Guancha in Ponce. Along with Luis Ruiz, international pilots Chris Brennan and Eliseo Nogueras Jr. with his family arrives. Also present were the local pilots Luis Ruiz, Nixon Porrata, Wilkins Torres, and Randy Tirado.
Weather was excellent, and flights headed toward the Ponce Hilton and over Cardona Island, which sits about 1 km offshore from La Guancha. At one point, former Kamikazes members Gregory Santiago and Carlos Cándido (CC) arrived flying all the way from Santa Isabel, a long and delicate route with very few safe landing options.
In the afternoon, winds weakened and only Luis went up, using the opportunity to fine-tune Randy’s paramotor. Eliseo had flown earlier and landed near the Ponce Hilton Hotel to spend time there with his family.

A very complicated day at Villa Pesquera, Isabela. Clouds, shifting winds from the south, then southwest, then the occasional WNW gust… and that’s how it stayed all day. Many of our plans had to be carried out—but in a very limited way.
Luis Ruiz had several introductory tandem flights scheduled, and it took him practically the entire day to complete just three, waiting for small openings in the wind to attempt takeoffs. In the end, Yarelis, Myrna, and Millin, all from Aguada, were able to live their flying experience. Luis had to use his Apco Play 42m tandem wing and run quite a bit with the passengers to get airborne in those conditions.
Then, other international pilot, Josh Allen from North Carolina, also joined us. He and Chris Brennan made the most of practicing takeoffs in low-wind conditions and managed to fly throughout the day. The local pilots Randy Tirado and Abdiel Galarza arrived but chose not to fly.

After yesterday’s unstable weather, today was a beautiful day in Isabela. Winds were a steady 5 mph from the NE throughout the day. Chris Brennan, Luis Ruiz, Abdiel Galarza, and Josh Allen all flew freely, and at one point Luis and Chris completed a very unique cross-country flight, and for sure for the novice pilot Abdiel, today was one of his best fly ever!!!
Luis later in the day went up on a tandem flight with Mandy, Josh’s wife, and the whole group flew a cross-country route together. It was a great experience for Josh and Mandy—flying at the same time, close to each other, along the stunning shores of Isabela.

Chris’s last flying day in Puerto Rico on this vacations, and we decided to head to the Boquerón flying area in Cabo Rojo. Freddy Rental once again generously allowed us to use his land. Unexpected mechanical issues with one paramotor meant that only Chris flew, while Luis remained on the ground ensuring everything went smoothly.
Later in the day, Chris continued his island adventure with some sightseeing in Utuado, ending the night at the bio luminescent bay in La Parguera, before heading home the next day.
