Stories of a Week, February 16 – 20, 2026 – A New Pilot, WHALES, International Visit and more…

It was a very active week for the pilots of Team Kamikazes Paramotor Puerto Rico. Every day brought a new adventure — and we’re here to document each one of them.

Monday, February 16, 2026 (Holiday)

A steady 15 mph northeast wind set the tone for the day at Villa Pesquera in Isabela. Luis Ruiz met with students Pedro Gregory and Javier Cordero, both putting in serious work practicing ground handling skills. We’ve officially begun preparing for Javier’s first SOLO flight.

Javier Cordero started the week with a very positive attitude !!!

We also welcomed international pilot Adam, who traveled from Texas to share flight experiences with us. He was accompanied by his brother, a commercial pilot interested in entering the world of paramotoring. Stay Tuned…

Adam arrived with his own wing and helmet, and Luis provided him with a paramotor. He launched successfully and enjoyed about 30 minutes of flying over the area before taking a break. On his second flight, he landed earlier than expected and decided to rest up and return the next day for more action.

Conditions shifted dramatically in Isabela. Morning winds were completely calm at 0 mph, later turning west-northwest at about 5 mph in the afternoon.

Live Video and a Tandem Demo Fly…

Present for the day were Nixon Porrata, Luis Ruiz, and Adam, back for his second day of adventure. Luis kicked things off with a LIVE video flight over the area, which we shared with our community.

At one point, Luis conducted an introductory tandem flight for Maritza López, who was visiting Puerto Rico from Connecticut, USA. The launch was challenging, but they powered through the run, lifted off, and enjoyed a fantastic flight together.

Later in the afternoon, taking advantage of excellent conditions, Luis, Nixon, and Adam flew low along the coastline for several miles. Adam was thrilled with the experience and the scenic coastal cruise.

Wednesday, February 18, 2026 — Javier’s First SOLO Flight

Early at Villa Pesquera in Isabela, Nixon Porrata, Fio López, Pedro Gregory, Javier Crespo, and his brother Iván were already on site. Luis arrived later in the day.

Weather conditions were outstanding. That morning, Fio and Nixon had the incredible opportunity to fly over a family of whales cruising near the Isabela coastline. It’s a breathtaking experience — one of the most unforgettable achievements a coastal paramotor pilot can have.

Fio Lopez captured the best Whales Video of the year taken by a Paramotor. That was at Isabela shore. Enjoy !!!

By the time Luis arrived, the whales had begun moving farther offshore. Focused on briefing and preparing Javier Cordero, Luis missed the chance to fly over them.

Then the moment came: Javier’s first SOLO flight.

All final instructions were reviewed. Questions were answered. Javier’s mindset was exactly where it needed to be. We were going to attempt it — and if it didn’t work out, it would still be valuable practice.

But it did work !!!

Fio López captured the entire process in a video recap that we proudly shared. Congratulations, Javier — may this be the first of many more flights to come!

With moderately windy conditions, we decided to take a rest day and return Friday when the weather looked more favorable. Javier Cordero showed up to continue practicing, and Scott Sansone was also present, although he did not fly.

But that doesn’t means that there’s not activity in the island.

The pilots Pedro Agostini, John Mush, Enrique Gonzalez and Gabriel Martinez, met at Unico Beach, and were flying in the afternoon. Here are some videos of their adventures…

Strong surf and gusty winds made conditions challenging, but the desire to fly was stronger.

Miguel Orona, Fio López, and Luis Ruiz were ready to send it. All three launched and flew around the area. Miguel took advantage of the opportunity to test Luis’s 22-meter Sky Zorro wing — handling it comfortably and confidently.

Another unforgettable week for Team Kamikazes Paramotor Puerto Rico — training, adventure, milestones, and pure passion for flight.

God Bless !!!
