From the beginning of October through Saturday, October 10, 2026, we had flying and training activities EVERY SINGLE DAY at Villa Pesquera in Isabela! We certainly made the most of the excellent weather conditions and all the opportunities they offered. And now, let’s take it one day at a time…
Thursday, October 01…
We began training with a fellow pilot visiting us from the USA (he doesn’t want his name on social media and we respect that). He had come to sharpen his flying skills in strong-wind conditions and practice crosswind takeoffs. The winds were quite intense today, so we took advantage of the conditions by using a small training paraglider to practice inflation techniques.
Javier Cordero was there, joining Luis Ruiz for the training session.
Friday, October 02…
We had a great turnout of pilots, especially for a Friday! Present were Mario Muñiz and his wife, Ivonne; Luis Ruiz, who brought along his young son Noah Enrique, who had the day off from school; Abel Bonilla; Luis Soto; and our visiting pilot from the USA, who continued practicing his inflation techniques.
The winds were strong, ranging between 18 and 21 mph. Even so, Mario, Abel, and Luis Soto decided to take to the skies!
Saturday, October 03…
The weather was somewhat turbulent, but conditions were better than they had been over the previous few days.
This time, Luis Ruiz arrived with Noah Enrique, along with Nixon Porrata, Mario Muñiz and his wife Ivonne, Juan Flores and his son-in-law Rey, Abel Bonilla, and our visiting pilot from the USA.
Nixon, Abel, and Mario took flights around the area. On this occasion, Abel and Mario both climbed to altitudes above 3,000 feet! Juan Flores continued working on his skills, practicing on the ground and getting in some flying time as well.
Our visiting pilot from the USA attempted to make his first flight in Isabela today, but a problem with the spark plug on his paramotor forced us to postpone the flight until at least the following day.
Sunday, October 04…
The best flying weather of the week in Isabela!
And since it was Sunday, we had an excellent turnout of pilots and friends. Joining us were Abel Bonilla, Scott Sansone, Mario Muñiz and his wife Ivonne, Pedro Gregory, Sammy Badillo, Juan Flores and his wife Iris, and Luis Ruiz with his son Noah Enrique.
Our visiting pilot from the USA finally took to the skies over Isabela for the first time, and we began fine-tuning his flying skills. Scott, Abel, Pedro Gregory, Mario, Sammy, Noah, and Juan also enjoyed plenty of flying time, staying in the air until they had practically had their fill!
Luis Ruiz conducted introductory tandem flights for Pedro Gregory, helping him work through and correct a few flying issues.
Luis also took young Mateo, an eight-year-old boy who arrived with his parents, on an unforgettable introduction to the sport. What an incredible experience at such a young age!
Meanwhile, in Humacao, Edgardo Rivera was getting ready to begin operations with his new school, Algarete PPG School. The school will be sponsored by our own school, with the goal of growing the sport throughout Puerto Rico and expanding its reach across the entire island. Unfortunately, the weather in Humacao did not cooperate, making comfortable flying difficult for the team.
Monday, October 05…
There is no time for rest when the flying conditions are good! We headed back to Isabela, where Luis Ruiz was joined by Pedro Gregory and our visiting pilot from the USA.
All three of us took off and enjoyed a flight that carried us all the way to Jobos Beach. On our return, we even witnessed an incredible scene in the water: a stingray evading a shark that was chasing it!
At Lajas Valley in the afternoon, we had a meeting, the pilots Alexander Jimenez, Nixon Porrata, Edgardo Rivera and Javier Gonzalez were ready to fly in the afternoon. Was a little bumpy, but the managed to fly.
You never know what kind of adventure awaits when you take to the skies over Puerto Rico!
Tuesday, October 06…
We began training with Jessica McGraw, who would be spending the next several days working intensively with our school.
Abel Bonilla and Luis Soto were also present, enjoying flights around the area.
As part of her training, Luis took Jessica on a tandem flight, giving her an opportunity to experience the sport from the air while continuing her learning process.
And this was no short training session! Activities continued throughout the day until 5:00 PM. Jessica’s attitude, dedication, and physical condition were truly impressive.
Wednesday, October 07…
It was another very active day, although not everything went as smoothly as we had hoped.
Jessica was still working through some doubts about controlling the paraglider during reverse launches but getting better.
Shirley Hernández was practicing but had not yet managed to get airborne, while our visiting pilot from the USA was flying but still needed to make some corrections to his landings.
In other words, Luis had his hands full all day!
On top of the training sessions, Luis also conducted an introductory tandem flight for “Lon,” who arrived with our friend Giancarlo from Río Grande. The flight went very well, and Lon had an excellent experience.
All of this took place before 1:00 PM, when the rain arrived and forced us to suspend our activities for the day.
Thursday, October 08…
The weather remained favorable throughout the day, and Abel Bonilla, Luis Soto, and Nixon took full advantage of the conditions by heading out for some flying.
After several weeks of recovery, Javier González also returned to our activities. Although he did not fly today, he was back on the field practicing and getting involved again.
Meanwhile, we finally saw a major breakthrough in Jessica’s training! She was now handling the paraglider on the ground with much greater confidence and natural control. This progress led us to begin considering her first SOLO flight!
Our visiting pilot from the USA also managed to get in a couple of flights. He performed one forward launch and another reverse launch, landing excellently on both occasions. Mission accomplished! We had successfully achieved the goals we had set for his training, and he promised to return for another visit soon.
Later in the afternoon, Luis Ruiz conducted two introductory tandem flights, this time taking Jesenia and Soledad into the sky. Both thoroughly enjoyed their flying adventure!
Pilots Edgardo Rivera and Alexander Jiménez also arrived in the afternoon and continued flying well into the later hours.
And the day was not over yet! Pilot Chino Morales showed up later, joined the flying activities, and afterward, the group headed out for dinner. The camaraderie continued well into the night with some consequences!
That is the spirit of Team Kamikazes: flying, learning, sharing experiences, and enjoying the friendships that make this sport so special.
Friday, October 09…
The weather changed, and the winds became increasingly strong. We postponed the day’s flying activities and focused instead on Jessica’s paraglider control training.
With every session, she was becoming more comfortable and confident. She also began carrying a paramotor on her back as preparation for her first SOLO flight in the near future.
Fio López and Javier Cordero also stopped by to get in some inflation practice.
Step by step, the groundwork was being laid for the next big milestone!
Saturday, October 10…
Luis Ruiz was already on his way to Isabela when he decided to turn back because the weather was not looking promising. We also had commitments the following day in Humacao with Algarete PPG School.
Early that morning, however, Mario Muñiz, accompanied by his wife Ivonne, and Miguel Orona managed to get airborne in Isabela. They enjoyed a flight before the winds picked up. Once conditions became too strong, they landed and called it a day.
And just like that, we wrapped up an incredible stretch of TEN consecutive days of paramotor flying and training at Villa Pesquera, Isabela!
Until the Next Adventure!
What a way to begin October! From strong-wind training and crosswind takeoffs to high-altitude flights, tandem adventures, returning pilots, and students progressing toward their first solo flights, every day brought something different.
Beyond the flying itself, these days reminded us what the Team Kamikazes family is all about: learning together, pushing our skills forward, supporting one another, and making the most of every opportunity to fly.
And with more activities already on the calendar, the adventure continues. Stay tuned for more stories from the skies of Puerto Rico!
