The weather has deteriorated considerably in the past few days, which is typical of this time of year. Strong and cold winds, together with scattered downpours have been the norm. The models predicted that the best day of flights and practice was today. The winds in Isabela were somewhat softer than last week. Even so, the constant was 15 mph with gusts of 20 mph, coming from ENE.

So, some pilots and students met at Villa Pesquera Isabela in the hope of fly and share. Luis Ruiz, his wife Jessica and son Noah Enrique, Ted Sowinski, José “TNT” Villanueva, Omar Román, the possible student Alberto (Uruguay) and Danis Rodríguez and his friend Miguel Angel.

Early in the morning, Luis prepared José for what would be his first “solo” paramotor flight. At least we would try the practice of inflation of José but with the engine ready in his back, in case everything went well and it could fly. The paramotor to use was the super lightweight SkyMax EOS100 and the Apco Thrust paraglider that José had been  practiced in recent weeks.

Everything went well with José in practice and he managed to turn with authority. So, Luis turned on the paramotor and José launched with authority on his first “solo” fly. Congratulations 💪💪!!!. The flight lasted 45 minutes. He was accompanied in the air by Omar. At the landing, José left the engine in neutral for a long time and it turned off. This engine needed an adjustment fro low rpm in idle (given later)… Even so, José made an excellent landing, but near a tree of grapes, where he ended up lying the paraglider. From there it was simply take it out and that’s it. José was very happy with his first flight experience, and that’s the important thing. We hope this one to be the first of many more flights with the bunch of pilots.

Further on, Danis was flying, in winds of 15 mph with some gusts of 20 mph. He looked very comfortable flying in those conditions. Today was his last flight of his personal vacation. In few days he has to return to New York to fulfill work responsibilities.

Luis closed the afternoon sharing with his family on the beach, but a downpour approached us, ending the activity. Always giving thanks to God for the opportunities that allow us to live 🙏.
