Sunday, December 04, 2022 – North Winds arriving, and with that Long Time Free Fly friends…

We were in Villa Pesquera Isabela from early in the morning. We had winds coming from the North for the entire north coast of the island. Not only was the wind coming from the North, but it was coming strong (10 to 15 mph). This means that the alternative of flying “Free Flight” was possible thanks to the Farallon. Long months have passed before these conditions were possible on Isabela and on the island in general.

It was a very active day with many pilots wanting to fly and have a good time. Let’s go part…

Arriving to Live the Flying Experience…

Karina Perez, and her group from Caguas, Mayra, Rita, Alfredo, Gerald, Verónica and the young Gerardo

These flights were coordinated for weeks in advance, and today was the day. Karina’s group arrived early and at 9 AM we had started with the Demo flights. Ian Darrell and Luis Ruiz were in charge of them. And thank to God always, everyone took a nice memory of their experiences while flying 💪.

Kamikaze pilots and their experiences…

Among the pilots’ preparations, the first thing that caught our attention was seeing Mario remove the “Harness Air Bag” from his Paramotor. Synonymous with the fact that he has improved so much in the sport that he no longer needs it 🙂.

But there was much more today. Mario himself had a different experience with altitude today, and not for the right reasons. It turns out that the “Lift”and/or “Ascent Air” everywhere was the order of the day. The entire coast was receiving winds from the North, made the flights surreal with lot of Lifts sensation at all times.

Charles, Darwin, Cheo, Abner, Sammy, Mario, Ricardo and Ian, all at some point were flying near the Farallon, enjoying the experience of flying without the need of the power of the Paramotor. Luis Ruiz at one point tried to climb Darwin by the Towing method, but the rope they used was too small to achieve the necessary height so that they could reach the mountain where the ascent was.

The Students…

While on ground, the students Luis Vélez and his son Bebo, were practicing together with Aramis and little Noah Enrique. The Instructor Luis Ruiz was in charge of the training, and everyone was practicing the paragliders, in both Reverse and Front method. Noah Enrique had a War Kite with Mario and them for fist time felt in the woods nearby trying to fly from the Dune of sand. Good experience for him to know that not always everything is perfect…

The Free Flight Stories…

Iván Torres, friend and veteran pilot of Team Kamikazes, was in charge of organizing the flights from El Farallón. Accompanying him, were the students/pilots Fio López and Víctor Manuel, along with another experienced pilot named Benjamín. It turned out that Iván, Benjamín and Víctor were flying all over the Farallon and with good altitude. In fact, Benjamín and Iván came to cover the entire Farallón from their takeoff area to the Guajataca Tunnel in Quebradillas. I understand that only 3 pilots have managed to accomplish that feat. Congratulations 💪!!!

Davicito de Jesus…

Another who came to perform Free Flight was Davicito. He is an experienced Free Flight (probably the best in Puerto Rico) and Paramotor pilot. This time he came with his family and decided to keep sharing with them on the beach, next to the Team activities.

At one point, Luis Ruiz gave to him one of his paramotors, the Fly Products Eclipse Moster, together with a soft paraglider (BGD Wasp) so that he could fly around.

With this team, Davicito not only flew, but did some acrobatics, and then follow Iván Torres while he was flying in Free Flight toward the Guajataca in Quebradillas. In fact, Davicito mention that he was with the engine at idle, getting the ascent from the cliff, without accelerating practically the entire journey.

Farewell to Darwin…

When the afternoon arrived, with the fold of equipment, we said goodbye to Darwin. His new job commitments (Jet Blue), going to keep him very busy for the next weeks at least. We only wish him the best and hope that he can balance his things so that he will continue reaping adventures on our island. Blessings 🙏!!!
