All of them residents of Boston, Massachusetts, They arrived on the island for a week with the idea of doing a different type of tourism. Thanks to Luis Ruiz and Team Kamikazes they had the opportunity to do a Paramotor Tour while enjoy their other activities in Puerto Rico 💪.

Sunday February 05, 2023

Luis Ruiz met in the morning with the pilots, Jay, Greg, Bryan and Jay in Villa Pesquera Isabela. The pilot Pablo Cruz and his wife Millie were also present. From early in the morning the wind was too strong, even at over 22 mph+ as soon as 9 AM. So, we have to postpone the flights for tomorrow.

Luis Ruiz took the opportunity to review everything with the groups of pilots. We set the equipment we would use during these days and talked about the plans for the next days. Luis have 5 Paramotors ready for use in the adventure, with the major brands Parajet, FlyProducts, SkyMax, Vittorazi in the equation. After the briefing, the pilots goes for internal tourism around the island.

Monday, February 06, 2023…

The winds in Isabela, as the forecast indicated, improved a lot. In the morning we had perfect flight conditions. Also the local pilot Charles Riggs was flying in the morning.

Our new friends from Boston are very used to taking off in zero wind conditions, and with the method of Front Take Off procedure. But today the conditions changed. They had to go for the Reverse Launch method because the wind intensity was at about 10 mph intensity. So, the first thing to do in the morning was dedicate some time to kite their paragliders by the reverse method.

Kiting Practices…
Greg Ready to Fly!!!

At first they had some trouble acclimatizing, but little by little they improved to the point of feeling comfortable to try their takeoffs. In the meantime, Luis Ruiz had their paramotors ready. Greg has a ParaJet Maverick Moster, Bryan has a Fly Products Eclipse Moster, Jay Close has a SkyMax Star Moster, and Jay Rothsein has a Fly Products Eclipse Moster. Eventually, Jay Rothsein could not handle the Take Off, but he stayed practicing his paragliding skills in strong winds for future flights.

In the meantime, Bryan, Jay and Greg managed to fly in the direction of the Guajataca Tunnel in Quebradillas and were flying for more than an hour along the coastal zone. The softness of the flight on the coast and the beauty of the place made Epic flights for them 🙏.

Tuesday, February 07, 2023…

Forecasts of 25 mph+ were the norm for the following days for the North Coast. So, our Plan for these cases was to move our activities to the SW zone of the island. Today we go to the flight area of the City of San Germán. For these flights to happen we need to arrive early to the place and be ready to Take Off at sunrise!

Ready at Sunrise!!!

The conditions in the morning were great! The winds were entering gently from East direction. Once the paragliders and paramotors were set, everyone Take Off without major problems. This time was Jay Rothsein the first to fly, followed by Greg, Bryan and Jay Close. They were flying together to the border of the towns of Hormigueros, Cabo Rojo and Mayaguez that were at some 15 miles from San German. Eventually, Luis also Take Off, but he stayed close, watching for the pilots and their returns.

Greg’s Turn…
Greg smooth Landing in the Parajet Maverick!

After 1 hour and 15 minutes of flight they all returned close to San Germán. From the distance we could appreciate some wing overs maneuvers from Bryan and Jay Close. In Bryan‘s case, he continued to fly until his Paramotor ran out of gas, landing in a Cow field right next to the flying area. There, he left his new friends, the cows, who came up to him as soon as he landed, 🤣.

The Cabo Rojo Lighthouse…

After the flights, Luis accompanied them to breakfast and to the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse. A unique place in the island that every tourist should visit and appreciate. Once we arrived close to the place, we found that the access gate located 1 mile and a half from the site was closed 😒. So we have to do a good walk to get to the place. But, the Lighthouse did not disappoint anyone, everyone was very impressed by the beauties of the place.

Arriving to the Magical Place!!!

Wednesday, February 08, 2023…

We returned again to the South West very early in the morning. This time we visited the Lajas Air Park. We had not visited the place for a few months but we found the grass weeded and good for flying (unlike previous visits). On this occasion the winds were completely at zero, and the grass was wet, so the risks of slipping in takeoff and/or landing attempts were a major concern.

Setting in the morning, and the grass was Wet!!!

But the pilots were very used to these conditions in Boston and all of them managed to Take Off without major problems. Once again, the flights lasted more than an hour and even Bryan and Jay Close managed to fly all over the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse, a place they visited yesterday during the long walk.
