Saturday, October 28, 2023 – A Pour Raining to ALL Puerto Rico. But we found a place for Training. First Day of Student Mike Lisowski.

A lot of rain and flooding for the entire island were the norm for the past two days, and specifically in San Juan and its roads, which were flooded and there was traffic chaos equal or similar to when a Storm passes through the island.

Isabela 9 AM…

Knowing this, even so, we decided to go to Villa Pesquera Isabela to start training with the new student of the Team, Mike Lisowski, a native of Pennsylvania. Along with Instructor Luis Ruiz, and his sons Noah, Ian Darrell and his girlfriend Paola, the pilots Edgardo Rivera, Pedro Agostini and Jesús Rivera also arrived. Charles Riggs stop to take a new Paraglider, Flow RPM 2 17 meters, but didn’t fly either. Also arriving from Toa Baja to Live their flight experiences were Karla Ramos and her brother Christian, who was celebrating his birthday.

Winds from SSW, not much chance in Isabela.

Once we arrived at Isabela, we observed that the skies were clear, but the wind was coming in from a SSW direction. And apparently he had no plans to change direction in all day. So we made the decision that we believed was correct. Move our activity to the Anasco Beach, betting that that wind direction would allow us to begin Mike’s training and carry out the two pending Demo flights.

Anasco Beach, 10:45 AM…

The decision to move was the right one. In the Anasco beach area we have acceptable conditions to carry out the activities.

Then we began with Mike Lisowski’s training. Luis Ruiz was in charge of his first paragliding control practices, and at the same time explaining to Mike all the technical details and flight theories, as doubts arose.

Meanwhile, Ian Darrell was in charge of carrying out the two Demo flights. First he went flying with Christian, who, as we mentioned, was having a birthday, and later he went out with Karla. Both brothers were very happy with their experiences and the decision to continue with the group of pilots once we left Isabela with no hope of flights there.

Along with Ian on his flights, were flying along the Coast, Edgardo, Jesús and Pedro.

A little later in the day, the students, Bussy Vélez and his son Bebo, arrived with Chey Sánchez, a former Kamikaze Pilot. They practiced ground control with the paragliders. The pilot Darwin Hernandez also arrived to say Hi, but, thanks to Edgardo, he also made a short flight around the area.

We kept flying until 4 PM, when the clouds were already closing the area and damage the weather. Mike continued practicing with the paraglider on ground almost all day.

Long Day of flying for Edgardo and Pedro in Anasco, Again all Odds, OMG…

When we left Anasco we did with a lot of rain. Turns out that Anasco was by far the best decision to meet, since once again the entire island was under downpours from early in the day. Go figure…
