We expect Hurricane Erin approaches for the weekend. So, we managed to get in some training and flying activities before it arrives. We managed to take advantage of the 3 days that preceded its arrival…
Wednesday, August 13, 2025 – Isabela…
Luis Ruiz and Fio López met early in the morning in Villa Pesquera Isabela. On this occasion, Fio is practicing hard with his control of the paraglider on the ground. He was using a 12-meter training paraglider, and also, his new 18-meter ITV Piper 2 paraglider, with which he plans to perform maneuvers in the future.
Is good to note that Fio has just returned to the island. He was taking an intensive simulation training in paragliding, SIV in the States, and is looking to continue mastering all the skills of the sport. Here we share a video that he made while practice in the clouds. He described it as one of his BEST experience on his life !!!.
In other hand, Luis, made two flights through the area. He took the opportunity to test a new paraglider, available for sale among the school students. A 26 meter Mac Para Charger. A very noble, docile, and very well built paraglider. Ideal for gentle and long distance flights, and for novice and intermediate level pilots. Luis was flying it, and enjoyed the softness of it in the air.
Thursday, August 14, 2025 – Isabela…
Once again, Luis Ruiz, Fio López arrived early in the morning to Isabela. This time also joining was Scott Sansone, who has become quite a pilot with his unique Thursday training… The effects of the still Storm Erin were already beginning to be felt as it gets closer to Puerto Rico. After mid day, the wind intensity were over 20 mph+.
Scott managed to fly twice, and on the last one, he had to fight back his return flying upwind at high intensity of winds. He learned a lot with this experience.
Fio, for his part, continued with the Ground training. Check what Fio told Luis, when he was going for a fly in the Piper 2. Watch the video…
Luis, eventually made a flight but with his beloved Sky Zorro 22-meters. Ideal for strong winds. Upon leaving, the airport wind reading showed gusts reaching 24 mph!!!.
Friday, August 15, 2025 – Dorado…
