The final week of October brought a little bit of everything to our flying community — varied weather, new challenges, and memorable experiences all across the island.
Sunday, October 26 – A Challenging Start in Humacao
Edgardo Rivera and Pedro Agostini met up in Punta Santiago, Humacao, where conditions were better than in Isabela. There, Luis Ruiz had to cancel his flight due to rain.
Even so, Edgardo and Pedro didn’t have it easy. They faced a zero-wind takeoff, running straight toward a line of trees — definitely not the most comfortable setup! But both pilots managed to lift off successfully. Check out the videos — they’re worth watching.
Monday, October 27 – Smooth Skies in Isabela
On Monday, Luis Ruiz enjoyed excellent flying conditions in Isabela. For this flight, he brought out his vintage wing — a 26-meter Paramania Revolution — proving that good design never goes out of style.
Tuesday, October 28 – A Dream Takes Flight
Tuesday was all about teamwork and inspiration. Luis Ruiz met up with pilot Scott Sansone for a flying session in Isabela. Scott recently changed his day off from Thursday to Tuesday, so it was the perfect opportunity to get in the air.
The weather was a bit active but still flyable. Later that day, Giancarlo arrived with his mother from San Sebastián. Although he faced some physical challenges, Giancarlo had always dreamed of flying. Luis and Scott worked together to make that dream come true — and they succeeded. It was a touching moment that reminded us why we love this sport. Blessings to Giancarlo! (Don’t miss the video!)
Wednesday & Thursday, October 29–30 – Maintenance Days
No flying midweek — time for equipment maintenance and getting ready for the weekend.
Friday, October 31 – A Perfect End to the Month
Friday turned out to be a special day. Early in the morning, Luis Ruiz took to the skies in Isabela alongside Edgardo Rivera and Abdiel Galarza. Winds were calm, around 3 to 5 mph from the north — perfect for exploring.
Luis and Edgardo decided to go cross-country, flying all the way to Guajataca and then along the border between Aguadilla and Isabela. The views were spectacular, and the sense of freedom, unmatched. (Videos of the adventure are included below!)
Later that afternoon, the fun continued on the ground. Edgardo, his wife Wilnelia, and Chino Morales enjoyed a meal together at a restaurant in Aguada, where Luis Ruiz and Nixon Porrata joined them — arriving by bike and scooter as part of Luis’s regular exercise routes around Pico de Piedra.
It was the perfect way to wrap up an eventful and fulfilling week of flying.
