Just like the headline says—6:00 AM… and that’s because while Luis Ruiz usually starts flight activities at 9:00 AM, for Nixon Porrata and Edgardo Rivera, that’s already late. They’re ready and flying much earlier. On both days covered in this story, they were arriving at 6:00 AM sharp!

Early in the morning, Luis Ruiz arrived to Isabela to fly at 8:30 AM, but by then Nixon and Edgardo had already eaten breakfast, flown, and were getting ready to go back up again. This time with Nixon, Edgardo had found someone who would gladly fly with him—no matter the time or the place. Here are a few videos taken from the day.
Later in the afternoon, Luis Ruiz and his family visited Anthony Green on his boat in Boquerón, Cabo Rojo. Anthony prepared some BBQ meats, and we also took advantage of the moment to give the kids some water sports action. We had an amazing time, and here are a few videos to show it.

Once again, Nixon and Edgardo arrived in Isabela before 6:00 AM. This time, we were blessed with excellent flying conditions—light winds in the morning and about 10 mph in the afternoon. There was also a larger turnout of pilots that day. Along with Edgardo and Nixon, we had Scott Sansone, Fio López, Javier Crespo, Chino Morales, Jomar Crespo, Miguel Orona and Luis Ruiz in attendance.
Unfortunately, when Luis arrived at 9:00 AM, he was met with an unexpected situation. Fio López had failed a low-wind launch attempt and fell with his brand-new equipment into a shallow water channel at the site. His gear was damaged, so Fio decided to pack up and call it a day. A real shame—but thankfully, he was physically unharmed.
Later on, the wind picked up a bit, and the pilots took advantage of it, flying together around the area. This included a group visit to the Guajataca Tunnel, and at one point Luis Ruiz took the student Javier Crespo for an Introductory Tandem Fly. Javier was in control of the paraglider for part of the route, and is getting close to his first solo fly. Stay Tuned…
In the afternoon, we had the pleasant surprise of a visit from fellow pilot and friend Michael Díaz and his father Papo, who has been away from the sport for years and is considering making a comeback. It was Michael’s birthday, and we had a great time celebrating.

As sunset approached, Jomar Crespo arrived to fly. During one of his skilled maneuvers, he flew very low over the same water channel where Fio had fallen earlier that morning. To everyone’s surprise, Jomar also ended up in the channel while attempting a foot drag. The rest of the pilots quickly mobilized to help him, as daylight was fading and time was critical.
With that, we wrapped up an incredibly active day of flying. God Bless!!!
