We once again had forced rest days due to weather conditions. Since last Sunday’s activities, we had to wait until Thursday afternoon to finally enjoy better conditions…

During the morning, the pilots Nixon Porrata, Luis Ruiz, and student Pedro Gregory headed early to Villa Pesquera in Isabela. Unfortunately, weather conditions were still unstable. Just as Luis and Nixon were preparing to launch, one of several passing rain showers moved into the area, forcing them to pack up in a hurry. By 11:00 AM, we decided to call off the session.
But the day wasn’t over yet.
Later in the afternoon, Luis Ruiz took a ride toward the Pico de Piedra beach in Aguada. There, young Noah started playing with a paraglider wing on the sand, which sparked Luis’ motivation to get airborne.
The flight was short, as high tide left very little margin for a safe emergency landing. With safety as the top priority, Luis chose not to push it. Still, he managed to log at least one flight for the day.

This time, we finally had an excellent day for flying.
Light winds set the tone, and Luis Ruiz was joined by pilots Fio López, Nixon Porrata, and student Pedro Gregory.
Nixon took advantage of the conditions by adjusting the brake settings on his 21-meter Mac Para Charger, with help from Luis. After the tweaks, Nixon said it felt like a completely different wing — and he was clearly enjoying the improved handling.
Meanwhile, Fio focused on practicing light-wind launches and spent time flying the sporty BGD Icon, carving a few smooth turns along the ridge.
Luis Ruiz made several low-altitude flights along the coastline and, at one point, completed two tandem introductory flights into the sport. Juan Carlos and Nicole, visiting from Lajas, had the chance to experience paragliding firsthand.
After several weather delays, it was finally a rewarding couple of days in the air — a reminder that patience often pays off in this sport.
