Over the years, we’ve learned how to move with the weather — and this weekend was another perfect example of that mindset in action. Saturday’s flying activities took us to the south side of the island thanks to favorable southern winds, while Sunday brought us back to Isabela to complete several pending tandem flights.
Saturday, April 25, 2026 — La Guancha, Ponce
With steady southern winds reaching the island, we headed to La Guancha in Ponce for an afternoon of flying and good company. Joining the session were Luis Ruiz and his young son Noah Enrique, along with Wilkins Torres, his wife Brenda and son Doel, Jesús Rivera and family, student pilot Juan Flores with his wife Iris and daughter Isis, and pilot Nixon Porrata. The future student Didiel Sánchez and his wife Aida also stopped by to experience the atmosphere and share the day with us.
A special mention goes out to pilots Carlos “CC” Cándido Rodríguez, Julián García, and Gregory Santiago, who launched from Santa Isabel and flew all the way to La Guancha as part of the day’s adventure — an awesome cross-country effort and a highlight for everyone present. Jesus, also managed to fly to Santa Isabel and return…
Conditions throughout the day featured light winds, allowing Nixon, Jesus and Luis to enjoy smooth flights.
In the meantime, Wilkins faced the challenge of launching in near zero-wind conditions. Even though one launch attempt ended with a hard impact on the ground, we were seriously impressed by the titanium frame of the Parajet paramotor. Despite the strong hit, neither the cage nor the propeller suffered any damage — a true testament to the equipment’s durability.
Luis Ruiz also took the opportunity to give Isis an introductory tandem flight into the sport. The takeoff was challenging, but thanks to Isis running strong and staying committed, they successfully launched and enjoyed a scenic flight around the area.
Back on the ground, young Noah Enrique entertained everyone by giving “paragliding lessons” to Jesús Rivera’s sons, Alberto and Jesús Jr. It was a fun moment and a glimpse into the next generation of future pilots. We’re sharing some videos of the action and the laughs that came with it.
Sunday, April 26, 2026 — Villa Pesquera, Isabela
The next morning on the way to Isabela, Luis ran into transportation problems. Still, after making a few quick adjustments and switching vehicles, he managed to arrive with all his equipment by 10 AM, ready for another full day of flying. God Bless!!!
Waiting for us in Isabela was future student Abel Bonilla, who is preparing to begin training in the coming days. Pilot Sammy Badillo and student Pedro Gregory also joined the activities.
Making the most of the excellent morning weather, Luis Ruiz completed several introductory tandem flights, giving more people the opportunity to experience the thrill of powered paragliding from the sky. We’re also sharing some of the videos captured during the day’s flights and activities.
