Training day for new students of Team Kamikazes Paramotor Puerto Rico … We went to Villa Pesquera ISABELA, betting on the best flight conditions and practices of the week.
Little by little the pilots and students of the school arrived…, Luis Ruiz, Danis Rodríguez, Noel Vale, Eric Harthman, Dave Hargett, Luis Daniel Ayala and Sammy Badillo. The weather… Clear skies, and winds at 2-4 mph at least until 11 AM.
With little wind and the sun in splendor, the practices with the paraglider were very strong and HOT!. And even more so when Luis indicated to the students that they would take advantage of the little wind for “Front Launch” inflation practices, including running and control.
Dave, Luis Daniel and Eric were giving it strong and the improvement of all of them was very remarkable. Surely in the coming weeks, some of them, if not all, will try their first “solo” flights with the Paramotor …
Between practice and practice, Luis planned to went out to fly with Danis around the place. But Danis had one of those days that are marked for him because nothing went well …😑
It turns out that when Danis take off, once in the air, his Paramotor failed, lost power and he need to land. While he was on ground, adjustments were made, the Paramotor was tested and it worked perfectly again. Once it took off again, the problems returned … The electrical system was verified, the spark plug was changed and the carburetor needles were adjusted … Strange, at least for the moment the Paramotor need to sit for a while…😑
The Plan B was that Luis lent one of his reliable paramotors to Danis so that he could go for a flight and cool a bit. It turns out that while Danis was flying through the area known as Montones, near Villas del Mar Hau, Luis’s Paramotor also failed him and he had to land in the area!!! Danis 4th failure of the day… 😲
Luis went there to look for him and take back to the shelter…, the joke and curious thing is that when they returned to Villa Pesquera, Luis took the Paramotor that failed to test it… and it started on the first attempt and flew well for around 15 minutes without any failure 🤨.
Danis was very surprised by what was happening to him in the day, yesterday his Paramotor flew him flawless and today was other story… At least, after 15 minutes of flying the Paramotor failed to Luis (a possible air leak in the gasoline line) and he decided to land it …
Anyway, those things sometimes happen, but everyone is good and in good spirits. In the afternoon, Noel had also joined the inflation practice of paraglider and while Dave and Eric returned to San Juan, Luis Daniel continued his practice until 2:30 PM. The progress of these 3 students was remarkable, as we mentioned earlier.
Next Saturday, the plans are to go to the “Parque del Norte” Hatillo. As always thanking God for a day of adventure and healthy sharing.
