Plans to train of Team Kamikazes students took risks in the face of a huge cloud of Sahara Dust that was passing through the region. In fact, the thickest cloud we have ever remembered in Puerto Rico. The sun could be seen straight without the need for dark glasses …
We decided to go to Villa Pesquera Isabela, who?… Luis Ruiz with pilots Deron Freeman and Juan Pagan. Both accompanied by their respective wives and family. The student / pilot Ariel Rodríguez also arrived, accompanied by his grandson and new Team student, Derrick Castro, in addition to the student Jimmy Gueits.
Early winds were at about 15 mph of constant intensity. This went up during the day to 17 mph with some gusts measured at 22 mph. Despite the strong wind, as the sun was being partially blocked, the flight conditions were quite laminar. Luis Ruiz went to fly first, verifying that everything was fine. He was later followed by Deron, who is already returning to the USA this week. Deron used for the first time a paraglider size 22 meters with which he felt very comfortable. Juan on the other hand practiced a little with the paragliders before going out to fly.
Deron Freeman landing with the BGD Luna 22 meters.
Beside, Ariel, received, as a Father Day Gift, a new paraglider Ozone Spyder 3, with which he began to practice. Luis took some time to test it, Here part of the video…
Luis testing the Ozone Spyder 3 in winds close to 20 mph!!!
Luis testing the Apco Lift EZ R, and landing close to camera…
Derrick and Jimmy also practiced in the hard winds. Mostly with the Trainer paraglider, BGD Seed.
Ariel eventually went flying, for her second flight in history. This time with better takeoff and landing. Here we leave several photos and videos. Many of these taken by Jenny Villafañe, Juan’s wife. I hope you enjoy it …
