With the arrival of the Kamikaze pilot Esteban Torres, who visited us from New York, we activated since yesterday Friday. Esteban for his complicated work schedule, could only come for the weekend. So we had to make every minute count.
During yesterday, he met with Instructor Luis Ruiz early on the grounds of Freddy Rental in Boquerón, Cabo Rojo, with the idea of going out to fly “cross” all over the Valley in the direction of Lajas. And if everything went well, they had gas for at least two hours of flight. The weather was perfect, the only condition was to be able to take off in zero wind conditions.
And here the thing gets complicated, Esteban tried several times and could not take off as expected. Luis gave pair of short flights, testing the equipment, but this was the only thing that could be done during the day. For other parts of the island, weather conditions were very windy, to thinks about moving to other location. So we closed that first day with those attempts that became a very needed practice by Esteban.
With this experience/practice, Esteban arrived today earlier (6 AM) to Boquerón, Cabo Rojo. He came better prepared both physically and mentally. So, this time he managed to launch in the first attempt. Luis Ruiz did not take long to reach him in flight, in the direction of Lajas. This time the flight conditions were not as good as yesterday, and once they arrived in Lajas, they had to fly back as the conditions were getting turbulent. The total flight time was just over an hour. But Esteban was happy to have taken off his feet from the ground. His SkyMax EOS 100 paramotor works very well as does its modern Apco Lift EZ R paraglider.
Luis on the other hand was flying his SkyMax Moster, and at the same time he was testing a new Titanium pipeline, sent by the SkyMax people in Russia for his Vittorazi Moster engine, with the idea of testing his performance with the idea of selling it in the future. .. soon we will give details about this …
The activity of the day did not end there. It turns out that around 1 PM, several Kamikaze pilots agreed to meet in Rancho Grande of Anasco, and Esteban arrived surprisingly there again, and along with Luis Ruiz with his wife Jessica and son Noah Enrique, Omar Román, Chey Sánchez and his wife Arlene, Gregory Santiago and Robert Rodríguez. The wind came from the West, as expected and both Chey and Omar went “cross” flight to Mayaguez and Rincon.
Esteban was practicing with the paraglider and later he took out his paramotor and went flying around. This time, an unexpected problem with his air filter made him land earlier than expected. Gregory came from Cayey, but some clouds entered the area with some rain and then crossed the winds. We went to eat to give time to the weather to composed. But this did not happen and the flights were postponed for the next occasion.
Esteban has some business to attend prior to return to New York. So, this is adventure with the paramotor end today with him. He had a day of great adventure, and he was happy and that is what counts.
