Saturday, many plans, but not everything went as expected. It turns out that despite having had a perfect week to fly at will (we use to do some tandem flights at Isabela in the afternoon). With the arrival of Saturday, the winds came …

The meeting point was the North Hatillo Park. Central place for all the pilots of the island.

Present:

Luis Ruiz, his wife Jessica and son Noah Enrique
Pablo Cruz and his wife Millie
Eduardo Pabon and his wife Esther
Chey Sánchez and his wife Arlene
Ricardo González and his wife Ermelinda
Gregory Santiago and his daughter Keyra Lis
Javier J. Ramírez, his wife and daughter (new student)
Omar Román
Juan Carlos Correa
Thaddeus Gala
Radames (Randy) Tirado
Gabriel Martínez

Apart from the fact that the weather was not as expected, some of those present, or others who did not arrive, such as Michael Diaz, faced health problems due to a virus in the environment. Luis Ruiz was also in the area but with limited activity due to weakness and muscle pain.

In short, finally, not everything was so bad. It turns out that early in the morning was possible to fly. Those who arrived early took advantage of that good window of flights. The first in air as it normally happens was Eduardo, and he went for a “Cross” fly. In the case of Omar who seconded Eduardo, he even flew to the Colon Statue of Arecibo before returning to Hatillo. Ricardo on the other hand, managed to take off and did it without assistance, which meant overcoming a personal challenge that he had.  Congratulations!!! Gabriel and Pablo also flew with Ricardo and everyone was at least 45 minutes flying around. By the time Radames was ready to launch, the intensity of the winds increased so we decided for him to better keep practicing in the area.

From Mayaguez came the new student of the Team. His name Javier Ramírez, he was accompanied by his wife and his little Melanie, of just 5 months old❤️. Luis was giving Javier the introduction to the sport and later they started with the inflation practices with a paraglider. As always happens at the beginning, the adaptation to the inverse controls in the inflation takes time to be acquired in the mind. But Javier turned out to be very skilled and in great physical condition, so apparently we will soon have another Team Kamikazes pilot.

With the entry of strong winds there was little that could be done in the place. So, some pilots had the idea of going towards Rancho Grande in Anasco in the hope of getting better flight conditions. That’s where JC, Chey, Gregory and Eduardo. Unfortunately by the time they arrived there, the conditions had deteriorated as a result of the internal rains of the day. So they could not do much there. We expect better conditions and be more healthy in the coming days.
