And after a long time, we return to “La Guancha” in Ponce … For some time we were waiting to restart our activities in the South area. And we understood this was the right time to return to “La Guancha”.

To start we want to mention all the pilots and friends of Team Kamikazes who gathered at the place:

Luis Ruiz, his wife Jessica and children Ian Darrell and Noah Enrique
Pablo Cruz and his wife Millie
Robert Rodríguez, his wife Elba and daughter Ashley
Carlos Cándido Rodríguez and his wife Wilma
Chey Sánchez and his wife Arlene
Randy Tirado and his wife Amaris
Gregory Santiago
Luis “Tiza” Lopez
Sao Cruz
Billy Avilés

The weather was much better than on other occasions and that was simply what we needed. While we were on our way to Ponce, the Kamikaze pilot Eduardo Pabon took a “cross” flight through the northern area. On that flight he toured several towns while flying.

In Ponce, some pilots arrived early in the morning. Luis Ruiz was the first to go flying with winds of 10 mph from the East. He went all the way to the “Cardona” Island which is located to a mile of distance of the area of flight. Pablo also launched and stayed around “La Guancha”. Later in the day Gregory and Randy managed to launch in windy conditions and took the route of Luis, to the Cardona Island.  Several “Manatee” families were observed on the way to the island.

It was nice to have the presence of Sao and Billy, members of Team Kamikazes who have been with little activity in the past years. Sao indicated that he will be fully reintegrating in the coming days 💪. Great, we will keep you informed of the return of Sao!!!

When the afternoon arrived, a huge rain system that fell in the interior of the island, came to us. With this system we had to shelter for about an hour and a half as it dissipated. By the time this happened, the rest of Team members that were traveling arrived at the place.

When the sky gets clear again, Gregory and CC were ready to take off and go flying in “cross” through the interior of the town of Ponce. They flew over the Plaza Caribe Shopping Center, PR2 and around La Guancha. Some minutes later they were accompanied in fly by Ian, and Randy.

Randy, shows again great attitude. He took some time for practice the launch at cero wind conditions. Then, take a break, and assisted by Chey mostly, managed to take off in zero wind conditions💪. This was very applauded by the Kamikaze girls who were aware of all the details of the activity 🤗. He went for a “Cross” fly in perfect conditions.

There was a large audience that gathered and took information about the sport. We’ll see if anyone is encouraged to enter the sport as part of Team Kamikazes. Luis indicated that the Team will be attending more often Ponce to promote the sport in the region. Stay tuned…

Late afternoon, it was nice to see the level of mastery of the pilots Gregory, CC, and Ian in their landings with zero wind conditions. This requires a lot of skill and practice. Randy, as expected, had a fast landing. He don’t have the experience for land at this speed with his new paraglider Apco Lift EZ R. He is progressing by leaps and bounds and will surely continue to perfect them…

At sunset, some of us went to dinner at Randy’s restaurant and had a great time. As always we thank God for these opportunities that allow us to live 🙏.
