Saturday, July 24, 2021 – “Gruta Troglodita” in the House…

A difficult day with half of Puerto Rico under water and storm clouds. Fortunately for us, the part of the island affected in the morning was the middle of the island to the Eastern part. In Isabela (at NW) we had acceptable flight conditions, for at least a few hours 🙄…

Today we had a visit to the activities of Team Kamikazes, of the people of “Gruta Troglodita“. An adventurer group of our friend Héctor Dones. They are practically every weekend looking for new adventures on the island and in an some extreme way. As part of their activities, this includes caving, and reaching places that are yet to be discovered or very difficult to access on the island.

Apart from knowing Héctor Dones for many years. We have not seen each other since our competitive times in Table Tennis, 😲, and that has been more than 20 years !!! There were many stories, and there we were reunited back, in the circle of life and living life with passion. Together with Héctor, we met Rosalina, Germán, Iris and Cynthia. All wanting to live the experience of flying in Paramotor. The closest thing to the flight of a bird.

Our flight time was numbered. Storm clouds were closing in on us minute by minute. Along with Luis, on behalf of Team Kamikazes, Edgardo Rivera, Omar Colon and Sammy Badillo said present early. In fact, Edgardo received his new BGD Luna 2 23 meter paraglider from Luis today. The first to try it was Sammy and later Edgardo used it. He took the opportunity to fly over Alberto’s house at the top of the Cliff. Omar for his part, was flying over the “Royal Isabela” golf course and was approaching the famous “Cueva de las Golondrinas”, where he plans to try to land when has better flight conditions 🙄 ….

Then going back to our expedition friends, Luis began to make the flights, of Iris, then Hector, and then Rosalina. All with great satisfaction for their flight experiences and with a challenge overcome for some. Unfortunately by the time we went up to fly with Cynthia, we already had the storm upon us and we had to go down immediately for safety measures. So this flight was pending, and thus one more visit from our friends. And this time possibly Germán will also be encouraged to go up.

After 10 AM, weather conditions continued to deteriorate to the point that the wind gusts touched 30 mph+ !!!!, time to go. Our Expedition guys visit then “Poso Brujo“, a hidden, special and unique place close to the Cliff of Royal Isabela. Is possible that they visit this Cave in a close future… so, more adventure in the area soon…

As always, we are very grateful to God for these opportunities that allows us to live. Blessings 🙏!!!!
