Today was the Students Day for Team Kamikazes. We met from 7:30 AM in Villa Pesquera Isabela. and were ready to make history. We were waiting for this day to give “Green Light” to Melissa Earl’s first “SOLO” flight attempt. Everything was ready, and the day had apparently arrived 🙂…
First, the Instructor Luis Ruiz, had the opportunity to perform two Demo flights. To Beba Medina (who was repeating her visit), and Luz Valencia, who accompanied her and was ready to Live her Experience. The two enjoyed excellent flights and are very excited to continue in the sport.
Along with Beba and Luz, the Team students, Melissa Earl and Mario Muniz, arrived. Also, the pilots, Deron Freeman, Sammy Badillo and Noel Vale. All of them apart from practicing and flying, were pending of the execution of Melissa.
At around 10 AM the expected moment for Melissa arrived. It had been few weeks of practice and dialogue about what she would have to do in the air in the take off and landing. Last week she had flown alongside with Ian Darrell, and had the opportunity to pilot most of the flight. But this time, it was her turn just “alone” in the sky 😉….
Luis began by putting her in the air in a small flight by “Towing” method, taking advantage of the sand dunes in the area. After this we look for the Paramotor. We decided for The ultra-light SkyMax Expedition EOS 100 at just 36 pounds. This had been used for some rookie pilots in their beginning. We would also use a new Paraglider 24 meter Flow Cosmos Power for this flight. Very modern, smooth and reliable.
After a couple of unsuccessful attempts and the corrections discussed, Melissa went out to fly “SOLO” for the first time 💪💪💪!!!! Everything was under control and the weather was very good!!! After about 45 minutes in the air, Melissa landed softly. His JOY was very notable, one more adventure to her resume, that is plenty! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
A long time ago, Team Kamikazes did not have a girl active in the sport, we go back to Kathy Cuevas and Damaris Hernández some years ago. But Melissa is the first officially in the paramotor flight. Now we are going to work with her progression as a pilot, and looks for more girls to join her in the Sky. Blessings 🙏!!!
