A challenging day, given the inclement weather that is affecting the island these past weeks. To this day we had the visit of the American pilot Allan Young. He is staying in the northern area for professional reasons, but for the North area it is practically impossible to fly.

So, Luis had a Plan B pending. If he really wanted to fly, he had to get up early in the morning and get to the Freddy Rental grounds in Boquerón, Cabo Rojo at 6:30 AM. And so he did… He was accompanied by his friend and possible student Dave Pazan. There were already Ted Sowinski and Luis Ruiz preparing the equipment.

The weather was as expected, very low winds were the norm, so you need to run a lot in the takeoff. We didn’t have a clear idea of the level of pilot Allan had, but at least he told us that his takeoffs in the USA were normally in light  winds. So at least he was familiar with the conditions.

Once the relevant coordination was carried out. Luis gave to Allan a SkyMax Moster Paramotor with an Apco Lift EZ R Paraglider . Allan take off on the first attempt and he was followed across the Valley by Ted. Eventually Luis reached them already when both pilots flew through the Lajas area. The flight was a very good one for the 3 pilots.

Dave Pazan had seen the action and decided to start the training. He has experience in the sport of “Kite Surfing” and is also a Private Pilot. Which will help a lot to be able to master the sport soon.

We decided to meet again in the day in the afternoon. This time in Villa Pesquera Isabela. The swell of the weekend had diminished something, but still strong. The same happen with the intensity of winds … Luis went flying in his SkyMax Moster paramotor and with the 18-meter Apco NRG PRO paraglider. Wind intensity was measured at about 20 mph with some gusts of 25 mph.

After this we started the training of Dave. We use the small paraglider BGD Seed, and at his side Allan was also practicing with the NRG PRO of Luis for a while. Ted was assisting in the practices. As expected, Dave’s skills floated. A large cloud and rains approached us at about 4 PM, which ended the activity.
