Pre – Weekend, July 14-15-16, 2021

The days leading up to the weekend were full of adventure. There were some incidents to regret 😑, but just as well there were also great experiences of new friends in the sport 💪.

Wednesday and Thursday…

We start with Darwin Hernández, Team Kamikazes pilot and a native of Isabela. Darwin works as a Pilot and Commercial Aircraft Instructor in the Texas area. In his spare time he travels to Puerto Rico to share with his family and, among other things, fly in Paramotor. This time he was accompanied to the activity by his wife MariCarmen and their daughter Emily. Although the weather at beginning was not good, we keep in the area for a while and everything gets back to normal. Darwin did not stop flying the Paramotor since his arrival and eventually return to the USA 🙂. He was premiering his new 20-meter BGD Luna 2 paraglider and was amazed by the performance of his new Toy. He suffered an incident on one of his flights, he lost his Go Pro camera… But his experiences and adventures in general were Priceless 💪…

Thursday…

Edgardo Rivera, from Aguas Buenas, was with his wife Wilnelia accompanying Luis Ruiz and Darwin Hernández on their adventures. He also had an incident at his house with his Paramotor that needed repairs. Luis borrowed him one of his Paramotors and Edgardo keep flying and gaining experience in the sport…. Alberto Sabah also join the activity of flying.

In the meantime, Luis Ruiz and his son Ian Darrell, were in charge of carrying out several Demo flights to people interested in sport. All of them were amazed, from the experiences of liberty and freedom that flying provides 🙏. Some of the Demo flights were given to, Leslie Ortiz and her son, Héctor Rios and relatives from Yauco, as well as Rosa and María who were visiting the island and reside in New York 🙂.

Also, Luis began the training of Gregory Rodríguez, a native of San Juan. In next days, we will be updating Gregory’s progress in the sport 💪… Congratulations and welcome to this new Adventure!!!

Friday…

We begin this story talking about incidents, from Darwin and Edgardo. But nothing compares with the situation of Instructor Luis Ruiz. It turns out that Luis was arriving to Isabela very early for the realization of some Demo flights previously coordinated. His personal paramotor, the ParaJet Maverick Moster, apparently got loose from its outer platform of its pickup and when trying to park the vehicle in Isabela. The Paramotor somehow rolled to the bottom of the Platform and gets stuck there, causing the TOTAL destruction of the ParaJet Cage while Luis moved the Pickup 😞 … A fisherman (or Angel) that pass by the area, helped Luis to took out the Damage Paramotor from under the Pickup. Blessings to that Angel that comes from nowhere 🙏!!!. Within all the destruction, it appears that the Vittorazi engine didn’t experienced major damage and could be used in another Cage …

After throwing off the bad taste of the beginning of the day, Luis was assisting his son Ian in the realization of pending Demo flights. The sisters Yami and Yalianis Torres, from Isabela were enjoying the flights. Their fathers Gary and Mary were present. Also was present Alana Bengoa, daughter of our friend and retired Team pilot, Ricky Bengoa. Both Ricky and his wife Dialma were present on Alana’s flight. Even Ricky was practicing paragliding for a while, and for him, it was like riding a bicycle. What is well learned is remembered 💪.

Everyone had a very pleasant time and Luis at the end of the morning was in good spirits. What happened to his Paramotor was practically incredible. Luis transported his Paramotor in that outer platform for years and around all island. Apparently a strap was loose and there was some bad luck in the process. Things that happen and you have to keep learning and correcting to try to avoid going through the same thing again in the future 🙄.

In the afternoon, Luis Ruiz was at his home, installing the Vittorazi engine to a new cage. We are going to call this Paramotor “The Phoenix” for what it represent…

Blessings 🙏!!!
